I got back from CES Friday morning, which means I’ve now more or less caught up with my sleep deficit from those frenetic five days in Las Vegas but still have a lot of writing to do.

As I did last year, I wrapped up CES by joining tech gadfly Ed Zitron’s Better Offline podcast at the hotel suite he booked in Vegas for a lengthy conversation about what we saw at the show and what that says about the state of technology. My fellow guests in this Thursday night recording session: standup comedian Chloe Radlciffe and fellow writers Garrison Davis, Robert Evans, Westin Lee, and Ed Ongweso. After some post-recording banter, I went from there to the airport and fell asleep within maybe 10 minutes of takeoff.

Here’s another example, also from (the awesome city of)¹ San Francisco: During the recent major event, several streets around Union Square were closed off. Apparently, #Waymo hadn't heard of that situation for some reason 🤦♂️, or couldn't "teach" their cars. And so this #SelfdrivingCar got stranded, blocking traffic on Post and Stockton.
Note how the officer places a traffic cone neatly in front of the car. Smart!

Overall, I’m really impressed by the #Waymo #SelfdrivingCar fleet in San Francisco. Edge cases are plentiful, though. In this example, a confused Waymo vehicle is blocking the bus lane.
The bus had already been waiting for a few minutes, and honking didn’t make a difference, of course. Yes, the Waymo pulls forward in the video, but it stopped again after just a few feet.
It's almost as if Waymo, the company, is giving #PublicTransportation the symbolic finger that way. 😕
