"The Revolt of the Dames"?

One facet of the rebellion that has produced major concessions over the legislation to be introduced next Tuesday has been the leading role of senior female #membersofparliament in it. Chairs of #selectcommittees have been prominent especially in negotiations with #downingstreet - some of them have the title #dame - the equivalent of #sir . Somehow I think #downingstreet may react ruefully to the song from #guysanddolls - 'there is nothing like a dame'!

The number of people participating in parliamentary select committee processes has seen a massive increase, which correlates with the relatively recent provision of online tools the public can use to watch hearings and send in submissions:
