#SilentSunday picturesque #Scottish #Sealoch shoreline, earlier this week. Raining cats & dogs now! (Ignore pesky ohtls - it's all about the colours & lines of visual force) #Argyll #WestCoast #Scotland
Felt very much at home here. Estero Reloncavi - the #fjord closest to the equator (41ΒΊ30'). Unlike the vast majority of Chile's fjords, folk still live here and the picture was taken in the small town of #Cochamo.

There are places on Skye which do not attract vast numbers of tourists but which offer a quieter, less busy experience. If you are good at map reading and have a guide book it isn’t to difficult to find them. The main thing, as with every place you visit, is to give yourself enough time to visit the star attractions as well as to find the places that are off the beaten track. A quiet welcome awaits you…

β€œThe term haar is used along certain lands bordering the North Sea primarily eastern Scotland and the north-east of England. Variants of the term in Scots and northern English include har, hare, harl, harr and hoar. Its origin is related to Middle Dutch haren, referring to a cold, sharp wind.”

Another favourite word: In Eastern England they call it fret and In Yorkshire and Northumberland it is commonly referred to as a sea roke.

Less poetically it is coastal fog.

Snow fell on the Cuillins only last week. They looked like a Toblerone carton. Now the snow is nearly gone. It’s the time for new growth. Greenery has returned to the land. Springtime is really here. Joy Abounds! This is the view from Roag.

Remembering the EPIC school of fish I got to snorkel through last summer. It truly was an unforgettable experience!

What’s next in my favourite photos of 2022? Ah yes! The lighting in this image of an edible sea urchin (Echinus esculentus) in amongst the kelp is πŸ‘Œ. Another highlight from my snorkel in the Sound of Mull.

The roundup of my favourite 2022 photos continues! Being in the middle of a school of fish whilst snorkelling in Scotland was such a memorable experience. I could even feel them flopping on my head at the surface!
