Any thoughts on this gorgeous object? It looks a bit like a dinocyst from the dinoflagellate genus Brigantedinium, but might be too big? My other thought is a flatworm egg of some kind. What do you think?

I’m really not sure about this one. It’s pretty raggedy and beat-up. I’m wondering, could this be foraminifera Procerolagena multilaterata? I need to make friends with a #foram expert to check my #foraminifera IDs! Anyone willing to be my go-to scientist?

I’m still none the wiser about these mysteries. Flatworm eggs? Foraminifera? If you can shed any light on to these beauties, please share your knowledge! There are 2 individuals here. Pic 1 is one fella, and pics 2 and 3 are the other fella (who appears to have a spiky surface).

I’m super excited by this one. I think, I _think_, this is Amphitetras antediluviana, a new-to-me species of diatom from Cromer. I ADORE their cubic form 🎁 (yes more geometry!)

Can anyone shed any light on this little mystery? Too big to be the diatom Cylindrotheca closterium, my second guess is a dinoflagellate (perhaps Amphisolenia sp.?). What do you think? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oooo! New (to me) things! I think these are some dinocysts of the Polykrikos genus of dinoflagellates. If you think different, let me know! #alwayslearning

So glad this diatom species is back in my samples. I don’t know why I love Ditylum brightwellii, but I do!

Barnacles! Yes, this is a barnacle. Difficult to believe I know, but barnacles are actually crustaceans (like crabs and lobsters) and start out just like they do, including this nauplius stage. You can tell it’s a barnacle nauplius due to its horns! It has a few more stages to go through before it settles.
