This. I noticed that the latest big offender is the Rust Foundation who in the discussion for their new AI/LLM policy specifically forbids this type of discussion saying mods have been specifically instructed to enforce this in the discussion. What a trash institution.

Lars Bergstrom from #Android just announced that they are **donating $250k** to the #RustFoundation! The money goes to improving interoperability between Rust and other languages. An additional **$100k** is donated to the #Rust Crater project in the form of #GoogleCloud credits.
I think this is nice! In today's #Google, this is a significant sum of money, so kudos to Lars for pulling this off!

I'm excited to share a significant update on Google's continued investment in the Rust ecosystem, which is playing a vital role in enhancing the security and performance of Android. We're proud to announce a donation of $250,000 to the Rust Foundation. This funding is specifically earmarked to support ongoing efforts focused on interoperability between Rust and other languages. Seamless interoperability is crucial for enabling developers to integrate the security and safety benefits of Rust into existing codebases. Additionally, to further solidify the future of Rust quality assurance, we are providing $100,000 in Google Cloud credits to support the Rust Crater infrastructure. Crater is a fundamental tool for checking how changes to the Rust compiler and standard library impact the broader ecosystem. Our support will help ensure this critical infrastructure remains robust and fast for the community. Google has been a long-time supporter of Rust, and we've seen firsthand how adopting it has reduced security vulnerabilities in the Android OS. Our commitment to the Rust project reflects our belief that this is one of the most impactful ways to continue advancing the safety and innovation of the entire Android platform. We look forward to seeing the new developments these contributions will enable for the Rust community and, by extension, the billions of devices running Android worldwide. #Android #Rust #Security #OpenSource | 23 comments on LinkedIn
