The raised voices abruptly silenced as the detective strode into the common room.

"What's the #rumpus about?" he demanded.

"Nothing." The rookie glared at the others.

"D'you expect me to believe that? Anyone else? I can wait here all day."

The desk clerk gulped. "Just a bit of teasing. About the company he keeps."

The detective raised an eyebrow. "And who might that be?"

Nobody met his eye. The rookie blushed.
