So it turned out that the bit I didn't understand also didn't exist yet

But most of what I'd read was marketing-infected and glossed over the awkward bit.

Only by explaining it to myself step by step did I managed to resist the misdirection and see the missing piece.

Writing that post saved me hours or days of confusion.

Das Prinzip heisst also #RubberDuckDebugging und noch effektiver, wenn man es an Dritte delegiert, statt nur sich selbst ausser sich selbst zu stellen...

Habt ihr das auch schon mal erlebt? Man verzweifelt an einem Problem, ruft schließlich einen Kollegen an, um ihn um Hilfe zu bitten, und in diesem Moment „geht einem ein Kronleuchter auf“ und man erkennt sowohl den Fehler als auch die Lösung des Problems? - nennt sich #RubberDuckDebugging und sagt: erzähls einfach deiner #Gummiente, und schon kommst du auf die Lösung!
Aber ein paar Minuten #Smalltalk mit dem Kollegen hat eben auch was für sich.

Speaking of ducks, can Mastodon’s text input be considered a rubber duck (programmer’s thing)? I just bashed my head against a problem for a couple of hours, then said fuck it, completely wrote the post with the problem… and then something clicked, and I solved it. 🤦

I wanted to try out my new terracotta PETG from prusament so I printed this cutie. I added fuzzy skin to add a bit of texture.I think it is a very pretty color, albeit a bit too shiny to give it a true terracotta feel.

Molly the owl will now sit on my desk and help me debug my code.
