Prince George to host ringette zone provincials

Athletes from across the province will hit the Kin Centre ice to compete at the Ringette Zone Provincials in Prince George, March 1-3. Watch as teams battle it out at the highest level of Ringette …

Prince George Daily News

It’s been a busy few months, and I apologize for not writing more updates.

Grade 2

Astrid started Grade 2 in September with Miss Sardina. Math is her favourite subject and she finds the problems fun. Her goal for this year is to get work done on time and improve her reading level. It’s a challenge for her, but she’s steadily improving. She just needs to stay motivated to push through the hard parts.

Ringette, Swimming, and Climbing

Physically, Astrid has seen some great progress with her skating, swimming, and climbing. Something has clicked in the past few months; she’s a lot stronger and more coordinated than she’s ever been. She’s overcome her fear of putting her face in the water and is finally learning to swim with confidence.

In September, she joined the ringette league and has been loving it. We now have all the hockey gear in shades of pink. We’re lucky the rink is within walking distance of our home. I’m secretly hoping she gives up the sport before I need to transport her to games all over Metro Vancouver. But for now, it has been a lot of fun.

Orthodontics Already

Astrid got most of her adult teeth very early and has a very crowded mouth. So we have an expensive orthodontics bill already. It hasn’t been fun, but the spacer has been slowly expanding her mouth and making room for all of her teeth. She’s pretty good about wearing her retainer, a few grumpy bedtimes notwithstanding and one false alarm where we were convinced we had lost it while biking home. Hopefully, the hardware will be out of her mouth before her next birthday.

Community Fun

Our community knows how to throw some good parties. In the past few months, we’ve had an epic Oktoberfest party, an Apple Cider Festival, pizza parties, and courtyard movie nights. I’ve said it before, but we are blessed to live in a fun and supportive neighbourhood.

We had treats (funky stickers this year) for 250 kids on Halloween and ran out pretty quickly.

#ringette

We did it; survived eight #ringette games in four cities this weekend. Also our last Sunday curling game and the boy's last #hockey practice.
#DadLife
The girls were both invited to a #ringette scrimmage with the same team on the weekend, and played against each other. 7yo scored a goal on 9yo (because, well, 9yo isn't really a goalie).
I've been to three #ringette games in the last two days and my kids have played in exactly zero of them. And we had #nrl games on TV all morning. Life takes unexpected turns.
This weekend's #DadLife schedule:
#Ringette
#Hockey
Ringette

Drama club
Hockey
Sleepover
#Baseball

And we don't have #curling on Sunday because of a bonspiel.
