Hot
Daily writing prompt What’s something you used to believe as a kid that seems ridiculous now? View all responsesI was minding my own business, whistling a happy tune and writing an answer to today’s WordPress daily writing prompt when I suddenly thought that this is the first time a WordPress Daily writing prompt has actually prompted me with something I thought I’d like to write about. Like a story. So that’s saying something. I took that and put it away for later and now here I am with nothing much to talk about.
Big heat wave coming to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area for the next few days. The weather guy yesterday said conditions could be favorable for strong storms to develop in the overnight hours and if strong storms develop in the overnight hours then they could possibly spawn tornados. Too many ‘ifs’ in there for me to care about at this point. Anyway, we’re supposed to prepare for the heat and there really aren’t many ways to do that. The air conditioner is plugged in? Check. I’m good. I put an ice cube tray in the freezer, but other than that it’s like I say: “If it’s toasty outside, it’s best to stay inside and eat toast”. Following my advice I’ll be making some bread (and buying a loaf because my bread can’t be counted on in extreme heat situations any situation) and some extra peanut butter to pad the shelves. I don’t think this heatwave will be much different than any other summer heat wave but who knows. To be honest, about the only news I care about right now is Taylor Swift’s wedding. I suppose I should add the groom’s name in there since it’s his wedding as well, but I don’t remember his name. I only know him as the football player or the guy Taylor Swift’s marrying.
This week it’s gonna be hot
and the temperatures will soar,
I only have one really quick thought:
and that’s this weather I do deplore.
Roses are red,
violets are blue,
I don’t like the heat,
how about you?
Balcony flowers get thirsty too
so I’ll brave the heat to water.
But I probably won’t do anything else
even though I know I should oughter.
The heat will come
and the heat will go
and before you know it
we’ll be dealing with snow.
