#OTD 24 January 2025. Rerunning this one while the power is still on.

It's slim pickings today, so I have no good stories except about my own error.

Today I picked a marriage from WΓΌrttemberg and this evening went online to verify the village. The couple wasn't in the marriage book with a January wedding. Looking forward a couple of pages, they showed up. My database had JAN, but it was wrong. The family register looks like JAN, but the marriage book definitely says JUNI.

And that is why it's so important to check the primary sources whenever possible and not rely only on secondary sources.

#ResearchTip Try our updated #opioid drug name facet to search across drug name variants, grouping different brands with their generic name. Example: check "hydromorphone" and your filtered results will include docs using the generic term + Dilaudid, Palladone, Exalgo & Jurnista.

Oh! So there _is_ a Chinese thunder god! I'm afraid I'll have to smother my impulse to trace similarities and differences among thunder gods along the trail between Leigong and Thor in Scandinavia - so if you're
A: very interested in languages,
B: trained in researching history of religions
I hand you this idea with warm hands.

Hey everyone, @academicchatter

I'm a presentation trainer who works with researchers and PhDs, helping them build skills and confidence in public speaking.

I'll be doing tips on conferences, engagement, storytelling, slide design, presenting etc

Hoping to connect with any researchers out there who care about communicating the work out to the world, and want to be better at it.
