IT #jobsearch #recruitinghell stuff:

> "This Role Is Not for You If:"

🚩

> "You want a slow, predictable 9-5"

Ah, so this is a crunch hellhole that probably violates several labour laws and union standards. Noice.

> "You prefer planning over building"

Millions of janky prototypes, and you never know which one ends up in production through a complicated tragedy of errors. Got it.

> "'Good enough' is your standard"

My darkest waking nightmares are haunted by software that bloody well ought to work, but doesn't. Does that count?

> "You’re not committed to becoming elite in your craft"

Dear recruiter, I'll have you know I'm a *very* elite coder... at admittedly kind of a niche thing. ...It's a narrow niche. You wouldn't get it.

Random IT job search #recruitinghell things:

Ooo! A position for a junior video game dev in Finland.

(...my immediate thought was, *is it* in Finland though?)

> XXXXX — одна из самых успешных компаний по разработке мобильных игр в мире.

(Yeah that doesn't sound like Finland)

Is that an em dash in a perfectly non-AI setting? Wow, kudos. Excuse me, I refuse to apply to a company that cannot afford copulae in grammar and substitutes them with em dashes.

That's wrong. That's wrong until we have an EU-Russia trade agreement on this shit.

Copula (linguistics) - Wikipedia

Today, in a *very special* episode of IT #jobsearch #recruitinghell:

"Tools: Cursor IDE, or proven experience with similar AI-assisted development tools"

Translation: "We're vibe-coding everything *and* you must have at least 15 years of experience with this"

NOBODY has experience with vibe IDEs. It's *kind of the point.* Fffffffff 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's fucking ridiculous that recruiters kinda expect you to write a CV _specifically_ for THEIR dev role, along side a literal fucking cover letter.

Why the fuck ask for a cover letter if you want a tailored CV?! Jesus christ. Like its not enough that I'm wasting hours of my time writing the perfect cover letter to spoon feed you reasons why I'll be your perfect burnout victim, you also want me to tailor my CV for you too. #RecruitingHell #programming

The only bright side to that job rejection was that: the CEO never responded to ANY of my requests for disability adaptions before the interview. But he *did* respond to my request for feedback. Indicating that he clearly was reading the messages, he just didn't care about #disability #RecruitingHell

Random software development #jobsearch #recruitinghell moment:

"Do you have 5+ yrs of experience, including 2+ yrs at top-tier companies (e.g., Google)?"

Why yes! Now, *all* of the companies I've worked at were like 2-5 employees and a boss. *But,* but but *but* - if you ask the bosses, those companies *absolutely* were top tier! With great ambitions in the industry! Are you telling me they were *lying* to us? I'm having an existential crisis here! Is the society built on lies? Aaaa!

🤦🏻‍♀️

Doing IT job applications again.

Guh, *SO* many on-site job listings these days.

I've not worked a day in office since the pandemic, everything worked fine in remote setting, I've not met a single software developer who actually wants to go back to office... So what's up with the "on-site" software development job listings?

#recruitinghell

Also yet another day sending dev job applications. *sit down* *drink coffee* *open linkedin* Aaaaand there's the first "100% remote job (onsite)". I'm going to need lots of coffee #recruitinghell

(A random spoof of #LinkedIn motivational posters:)

I know I should be busy in LinkedIn jobs section, looking for the job of my dreams. The next hustle. The next grind.

But then I accidentally clicked on the Visual Studio Code window, and started implementing "one little feature" in my #Python app. And suddenly my kanban is filled with new cards. I didn't even know I had a kanban. ...And that's where I've been these last few days.

This is how you get real gains in life! You become an #opensource dev making extra turbo niche rubbish.

Today I saw a role on Indeed.com:

Pay: $40,000 per month ($480k)
Salary: $400,000 per year (-$80k)
Rate: $750/day (-$285 @$195k)

What’s the betting that the offer would be around $80k 🤣
