Wrapping up my New Year’s coverage with this set from a couple of years ago, taken somewhere along the Seto Inland Sea in Okayama Prefecture, on the first morning of the New Year. The first sunrise of the New Year is called "hatsuhinode”, and if you make a wish whilst watching the sun come up, it is believed that the Gods will grant it for you.

Happy New Year!

A photo from the archives, taken with my first digital camera (an HP PhotoSmart 850) twenty years ago: New Year’s fireworks over the small southwest-German town of Beilstein.

I hope that 2024 will be a happy, healthy and successful year for all of you.

Osechi-ryōri are traditional Japanese New Year’s foods, with each of the dishes symbolizing a New Year's wish. The food is plated in a lacquered box called a jūbako, which the whole family eats from.

Photo taken a couple years back at my in-laws’ house in Okayama. Shot with Nikon FE2 and Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 lens on Fuji Natura 1600 film.

Happy New Year everyone!🎍
