Day 17 of 300 - The mundane, but a routine

Day 17 of 300 - Often the mundane and the routine usually feels like a cage, but lately, it feels like a key. The run, the dog walk, the daily sweat - it’s beginning to stop feeling like a tax I have to pay and started feeling like a source I get to tap into. I’m finding joy in the simple ability to move, and for the first time in a long time, my body is responding.

To leave Kathmandu is to shed the city’s chaotic gravity for the silent promise of the Annapurnas. We climbed to Australian Camp not to conquer the mountain, but to celebrate a milestone: my twins turning six and to my embarking on a new sabbatical. While I bargained with the jealous god of gravity on the stone steps, they bounded up as sparks of kinetic joy; a reminder that watching your children grow against a backdrop of eternal snow is to feel the devastating speed of time.

Day 11 of 300 - Life has a habit of expanding to fill the available space. In the past, fitness was an optional event. It was something I tried to squeeze into the margins of the day. If I was busy, with meetings, or had an event to attend, the workout was the always first thing to get cut.

Day 9 of 300 - After a scare with a tight quad yesterday, today was the real test. I needed to know if I was actually injured or just stiff. I put the leg through a 5km run and a 22km bike ride to find out. The verdict? Zero pain, faster pace, and 27.37 km banked for the day. Taking it easy yesterday paid off - I’m back to full speed.
