Delivering the commencement address to the graduating seniors at Morehouse College today, President Joe Biden addressed the nation. After thanking the mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, and all the people who helped the graduates get to the chairs in front of the stage, Biden recalled Morehouse’s history. The school was founded in 1867 by civil rights leader Reverend William Jefferson White with the help of two other Baptist ministers, the Reverend Richard C. Coulter and the Reverend Edmund Turney, to educate formerly enslaved men. They believed “education would be the great equalizer from slavery to freedom,” Biden said, and they created an institution that would make the term “Morehouse man” continue to stand as a symbol of excellence 157 years later.

@Ulzana tbh, #potusbiden is in a tough spot, what with Manchin and Sinema in the Senate, and the hard right in control in the House.

And given that, he has managed good things.

But I think the messaging the Democratic strategist are using are designed to support the GOP. I don't hear how voting Democratic would help me, I just hear how awful the GOP is.

I don't need to be convinced of the latter, but it won't turn out voters who aren't following all of the policy discussions, and are more focused on personal impacts. Esp so for minorities and low to moderate income households.

Oh, yes, #POTUSBiden - don't worry about giving dispirited voters a vision that addresses their concerns. Just double down on your base by attacking Tump. And by all means pick up on Hilary Clinton's brilliant strategy of attacking & insulting Trump supporters - that " deplorables" comment was so helpful, attacking them as MAGA is not helpful.

A Trump, even a GOP, victory terrifies me for so many reasons. But I'm not the person you need to reach to get my vote. You need to reach those dispirited voters who don't see why turning out for the Democrats will benefit them in the slightest. And I don't hear that message.

The NYC march today was great, streets were packed, chants were chanted, signs & costumes noteworthy. The block long temperature stripe textile scarf(? Can I use that for a ca 3' x 300' textile?) was impressive, and I was especially taken by the mini- split costume, the body as compressor and a headpiece as condenser (the induction stove with a pan for a hat was not to shabby either). A good manifestation indeed.

AND

We need to keep letting President Biden know he needs to do more . The IRA was an example of an important action, it was necessary and INSUFFICIENT. We now need to stop new drilling; we need a plan to ramp extraction to zero
