@datenritter Now a #PLB would be activated by flipping over or other severe events like Airbags exploding...
And by it's very nature.it would.not be exploitable to (non-consensually) track people - illegally or legally doesn't make a difference...
In fact, one could even add an emergency activation button so hijacked taxi drivers could call for help discreetly...
A peculiar brain event has led me to the conclusion that I need a Personal Locator Beacon #PLB sooner rather than later. (I've been stupidly putting it off or taking too long to think it through.)
Have you used one in reality? Know anyone who did? Do you carry one routinely? Does it get in the way? What model do you have, do you wish you had?
Finally, a word about general backcountry connectivity, always carry a PLB with you. While I’ve spent a reasonable amount of $ paying Garmin for their inReach services myself, PLBs and the related COSPAS infrastructure has been built from the ground up to be a protected service and work robustly. Thanks for reading this far.

For more of the story of the struggle for real independence in Cameroon, & the absolutely brutal french war to suppress it (we're talking entire villages set on fire & Black people's severed heads displayed as warnings; some of the articles have images), read:

That's why we say #PLB.
