Good morning tooters. It was 19c when I got up this morning & it’s heading to a hot 35c today. Feeling pretty ordinary this morning after an unsettled sleep.
My back is causing me some grief again & I woke in the wee small hours with a sore stomach as well 🤷🏼‍♀️. I haven’t done too much but I am feeling quite uncomfortable - this too shall pass & hopefully sooner rather than later. I have no idea what’s going on with my body lately but I don’t like it. Safe to say I want to go home & be in my own place again - today is the last day here though, back to my own bed tomorrow.
Still I’ve decided not to go swimming this morning but will pack up everything I won’t need for the next 24hrs & take it all up home & water my garden as despite being still very damp the trees & veg garden will need it. If I feel up to it I’ll do some cleaning here rather than in one big job tomorrow.
Not much else on for the day, just taking my time to do what I need to.

Good morning Fedi friends. It was an ok 17c overnight & I had the fan on & windows open but was still a little too warm. It’s getting to 31c today & the humidity is still up there, but slowly dropping & is now 71%. I think my lawn will be dry enough tomorrow morning to go home & mow.
I’m getting to the stage of wanting to pack up & go home which often happens if I’m house sitting for more than a week. Still it’s not long until Thursday when I do go. Goodness knows how I’ll be now I’ve accepted to sit here but for 6 weeks from the end of August & into September as this is going to be the homeowners last overseas trip. Although it’s on the table that I can go home to my place each weekend to do what I need because the cat will be fine for a night alone & this does have the homeowners approval.
Just about to jump in the shower & then do a balance class before heading down to visit my sister for a couple of hours.

Oh my goodness, cats 🐈‍⬛ & their quirks. When it’s time to bring in my pet sit cat I greet him on the verandah where he waits for me. A big black fluffy blob rolling around & purring & I’m allowed to give him a bit of a scratch on the head. If I scratch for too long he quickly turns & bites - I’ve learnt to be quicker.
Then he rolls again & I scoop him up using both arms, but I’ve also learnt to very quickly drop the supporting arm because he’s fast, he lifts his paw & engages his claws into my arm & I bleed 🩸.
I bring the big heavy lump inside, put him down still using only one arm & he walk away purring to where he goes & stays for the night. I take him in his dinner & he purrs contentedly at me as he gets another scratch on the head.
Around 7.30 - 8pm time he comes & meows at me - he wants his little bedtime treat which I give him & shut him in. I hear nothing again until the morning.
I do this because I’m not his boss, his owners aren’t the boss - he’s the boss & he knows it. Storm by name, Storm by nature. #CatsOfMastodon #StormyTheGrump #HouseSit #PetSit

Good morning Fedi friends & what a lovely cool morning it is. It was 15c when I got up a couple of hours ago, still had a fan going all night though which was lovely. Getting a little warmer today reaching 32c & it’s still humid but it’s dropped to just under 80%. The day is forecast to be sunny as well, so hopefully things dry out some more.
I’m heading up to my place as soon as I’m showered. If I think it’s still too damp to mow I will whipper snip & clip the worst of it & leave the mowing for another 24hrs. It’s pretty overgrown so it may be the best option for me anyway & easier on my back. It’ll be the first time using the new whipper snipper which while the same brand is an updated version & feels a little different. Anyway that’s my plan for the morning.
What is it with cats. Happy outside & comes in just to use the litter box before asking to go out again. Plus - how the hell did this cat 🐈‍⬛ manage to leave me an upright 💩 to clean up. Some special balancing there!

I’d forgotten about this 👇🏼. When I left to go to my sisters today, this was Stormy flat out on the lawn keeping his belly cool. He has so much fluff he must get really hot. When the sun is out he hides under the house but it was an overcast start to today. You can give him a brush but only for a short time, then he turns & either bites or scratches. A very intolerant grumpy old man, mind you he was intolerant grumpy young man too & I have the scars 😹. Just a black blob surrounded by green. #HouseSit #PetSit #Stormy #CatsOfMastodon

Good morning tooters. I can barely believe it but I slept over 8 & 1/2 hrs last night. I can’t remember the last time I slept that long & when I sleep longer than normal I say I must have needed it - & I must have really needed it last night! It was about 23c when I woke up to grey overcast skies & today is supposed to be a rainy 29c & looking at the BOM that rain isn’t far away.
I prepared a chia & oat porridge last night for today’s breakfast & I’m glad I did as I didn’t have to think about it, just heat it & while I didn’t have a banana, my usual favourite to add I did have blackberries & a few grapes - it was ok - banana is better.
I let the cat out when I got up, he was a long time out there before he asked to come in for breakfast & I thought he was obviously doing his ablutions. I cleaned his litter trays while he was out there & when I let him in - he didn’t ask for breakfast, he used the litter box & asked to go outside again 🤷🏼‍♀️ - cat humour again!
Only plan for today is to visit my sister & give her the books I picked from a couple of street libraries & have a catch up chat on our week for a couple of hours. All depending on how I’m feeling, I may do a yoga class later today.

Good morning Fedi friends. Awake at predawn as seems to be my usual nowadays. It was a pleasant & cool 19c this morning but heading to a hot 33c & feels less humid today thank goodness. I’ll be watering the garden again before I know it at this rate.
I let old Stormy out, I let old Stormy back in again & then gave him his breakfast & let him out again! Cat 🐈‍⬛ routine! He will now happily stay out for most of the day & he comes in around 4pm, done for the day. He’s already discovered his blanket is on the end of my bed & lay beside it on the pristine quilt leaving black fur all over it 🫤 - typical cat 🐈‍⬛ sense of humour.
I was quite lightheaded when I got up & I know why. I’m feeling a lot less stressed than I have all week now I’m away from the outside mess at my place & lightheadedness is the result of the stress being released. I know what I need to do to help myself though. Even though I go through the motions of doing what needs to be done, I know it affects me. I took a picture of what the inside of my garage looks like now & you can clearly see how much silt went through under that back door & the tarps I’ve put down so that I can walk through & not track the fine silt inside my unit.

All settled into my house & pet sit. Stormy the grumpy old black cat is inside & has already had dinner & will be staying inside now until the morning. I’ve unpacked & didn’t have to bring heaps as my own place is not far away for anything I really need. I brought down some leftover spag bol for the first nights easy dinner.
It is so hot & humid outside but apparently only 30c, but that sun feels very fierce & bitey. Time for a cool change I think!

Good morning Fedi friend. Awake early again, a very humid night & 21c when I got up at 6am, heading to a warm 31c.
I wasn’t planning on taking the dogs for a walk today after all the rain yesterday. Changed my mind though (my prerogative 😁) & was dressed & out of the door before 6.30am & it was still dark, cloudy & muggy. The walk was good though, if a bit damp & in one street on the way home - heaps of little midges that got stuck on the back of my sweating neck. At least I didn’t inhale or breath any in 🤣.
The picture of the lichen I came across on a number of trees & shrubs is amazingly striking after all the rain. It’s beautiful.
I’ve nearly finished my breakfast 🍳 ☕️ & am about to shower & then pack up, clean up & head home. I have to admit to being a little nervous as to what I might find at my place after the huge rainstorm that swept the state yesterday. If there’s a problem, I’ll find a way to deal with it. I just hope 🤞🏼there isn’t. I never used to worry about that type of thing ever & I hate that it’s always in the back of my mind now whenever there’s heavy rain.
