Sicilianews24.it: Rwanda potenzia le sue ambizioni nucleari dopo valutazione positiva dell’IAEA.

Rwanda is boosting its nuclear ambitions following a positive IAEA evaluation.

The Nuclear Dream of Rwanda

At the beginning of March, during the Nuclear Energy Summit, Rwandan President Paul Kagame reiterated his goal of developing civilian nuclear reactors in the country. “Nuclear energy is not too complex or risky for developing countries,” he stated during the meeting. “It will diversify our energy mix, providing the stability necessary for industrial growth and long-term transformation.”

Currently, Rwanda’s energy supply is dominated primarily by hydroelectric and thermal energy. In 2020, only half the population had access to electricity; the country aims to reach 100% electricity access by 2030. Rwanda is betting on nuclear energy to provide 60-70% of its electricity mix.
