This piece is a little older by now. It was done after starting to get answers I’d been after for years and a diagnosis of hyperparathyroidism. It was very freeing to have someone take my concerns and quality of life seriously after such a long time of being told to just exercise and lose weight. The illness has been mostly resolved. Some issues will stay with me though but I made it through.
