Panzer IV Ausf H meeting an American (_Just_Another_Speck_)
Last #wip photo of the 1:35 #PanzerIV Ausf. F2 in a one-colour DAK scheme.
After applying AK Interactive's ultra matt varnish I used some Vallejo's satin varnish on the metallics to bring back some shine of theirs. Then a bit of engine grease spills and Tamiya's light sand pigment in select spots.
I'm oddly pleased with how this model has worked out. Maybe I need to try more difficult things next to fail more spectacularly? ๐ค
Since the last photo of the #PanzerIV I blended on some Abteilung's Buff, used a graphite pencil on the worn surfaces of the idler wheel and the drive sprocket. I also drybrushed the rubber bits with tyre black lightened with dark grey to get the Continental texts better visible.
Today I #airbrushed some Vallejo's RLM66 and Wood on the #PanzerWerk tracks before I installed them. Those tracks are just fantastic!
Lots of tiny things, only some more (hours of) #weathering left ๐ #ScaleModeling
One run of Abteilung's sepia wash #OilPaint applied and partially cleaned up. As usual, the pin wash has made the details pop out.
I've still got things to fix, and the sides of the panzerwanne, bogies, and the roadwheels still treated the first time. Later on I'll do some buff on the sun-kissed surfaces, and the wood bits need a brown wash as well.
As always, #weathering is loads of fun! #PanzerIV #ScaleModeling #BorderModel
Except for one Balkenkreuz in the back to be redone, the #PanzerIV is just about ready for a layer of gloss varnish. And after the gloss coat, the weathering! Roadwheelery etc is just dry-fit, so I can get the tracks on as easily as possible.
Painting the wood for the tools has been, as always, my biggest challenge. I bet on a brown wash hiding some of my paintbrushed-on crimes ๐ฌ
First basecoating session of the #PanzerIV done, instead of Dunkelgelb I went with Sandy Yellow, thinking it might look more appropriate. There are things (underpainted corners) to be fixed, then I've got to give the tracks a dark grey coating as well.
After that I'll airbrush some Heer and DAK insignia on, using stencils, then look at chipping if I dare.
Last Sunday I got to do some #airbrushing on my #PanzerIV and I primed the tank itself red and the Panzerwerk tracks black.
This one photo shows the customized steel texture effect I attempted for the first time, using uncle NightShift's methods. Unpainted it looked foul but after priming... Much, much better! #ScaleModeling
