Tobias's second descent into the Labyrinth - Another fanart for The Savior's Series by Jenna Moreci.
Here's the companion pieces to Leila's "tarot" card ( cara.app/post/69e70608... ).

Light is a theme in both, whereas Leila's is washed in light, Tobias is turning away from it. More and more throughout the first two books in particular. I also put in some "fun" little details. (Had to re-read the scene with his fight against the Giant to make sure I get his cuts and bruises right.) His frame elements are paint brushes and a sickle with sugarcane. IYKYK, and if you don't go read the books :P

Minor weird thing this morning - I found two paintbrushes I couldn’t see yesterday and they were right where they should have been, and where I’d looked.

There are four in the set and the material the handles are made from has gone sticky for two of them so I covered them in washi tape. Idk why I couldn’t see the other two except, I guess, ADHD is like that sometimes.

They stand out from the others anyway since the ferrules are gold and everyone else is silver.

Heard of such a thing as a hake paintbrush this morning. Looking them up, including their history, I find “hake” is a Japanese word for brush. I love discovering things like that and also being informed so as not to keep saying things like “brush brush”.

Also, they come in sizes including 2 or more inches that I was looking at buying a while ago, but the cheapest of those is £17. These are goat hair and I’d set my search to vegan, but if the goats are unharmed… 🤷🏻‍♀️ anyway, one of these is £11 for a 3-inch (maybe because the bristles are shorter, idk).

I've been using the Squidmar brushes for more than 2 years. Recently it became hard to make any precision work, because my brushes didn't really have a tip anymore.

I've opened new Winsor & Newton brushes which I had for a while. It feels a lot better now. I think I learned a lot with the Squidmar brushes, but recently they were holding me back.

Getting ready for the new job tomorrow (Quick, I know!) has me thinking about how hobby is going to fit in around us returning to work, tiny heading to nursery, and her just growing up. All positive things, but I want to make sure I leave myself space for this thing that keeps my head right and brings me joy. While I think through that, I treated myself to brushes and a Silver Bayonet Creature that’ll be perfect for something in #Frostgrave.
