Cota tinctoria (?)

Having a break from infrared stuff and shot this just one hour or so in the yard after watering the plants. I hope I got the scientific name and classification right because this is how it looks as well on the Wiki page!
Nice to see them flowering at this time of the year; I don't recall such flowers would open up at this time of the year before.
It was also a good subject to test the macro in my Huawei phone (P30). Not bad I guess, though the big hurdle here is the ergonomics; I still can't stand shooting with phone despite how easy it is to carry a phone around - however, metering and focusing and even looking at the screen to frame (under the sun) is just so challenging for me.

Oxeye UV.

A humble trial I did back in March to shoot an oxeye flower (gone by now) in visible and UV and then tried to create what they commonly call "bee vision" image. I've included here the two separate shots for comparison; the normal (or visible light image) and the UV one.
Since both were taken handheld, there are some unmatched edges here and there of course. Despite using an IR block filter, the visible light image did have a red tint originally but it was easily fixed in post-process (my bad, because I was supposed to calibrate the WB already before shooting). As for the UV shot here, this is after a quick WB fix in post-process of course (the image was purple/red out of camera).
There are actually numerous ways to combine such images and typically I don't have a fixed workflow for this yet; I just try whatever makes a better visual impact, kinda.

Oxeye (UV, Visible);

OK, this is one failed attempt but I'm posting it anyway. You can see here clearly the difference between UV (left) and normal (right) looks for this oxeye flower (which I hope I got the name for right). Both images were taken handheld and I was hoping that with the help of PS that I can combine them together to make a "bee vision" image, but unfortunately, PS failed me. I tried to do it manually, but it didn't work quite well. So, decided to post it as is side by side just for comparison. You see how the center of the flower is dark; something you can't see with the naked eye.
Even though I corrected the colors like in the previous shots I've been posting for the past 3 days or so, but the UV colors here just looked different - not complaining though.
Now, I'm trying to think of more targets to shoot in UV!
Now that I don't have anything new left, I think I'll go back to my archive to post daily.

The last one in this mini-series, and unlike the 2 before it, this one is actually processed from a single shot. I've posted a shot similar to this months ago, processed in the same manner (called it "dragon nest 龍之巢" or something similar), but that old shot was actually (if I remember correctly) shot using 50mm, and it was for a mini-sunflower and not an oxeye like this one. I read once that one name for the oxeye, among others, is the "fake/pseudo- sunflower" 🤷🏻‍♂️

The next (and before the last) shot from this mini-series. It is, again, made of several shots focus-stacked. This one in particular I kind of struggled a bit with adjusting some contrast "zones" (that is, applying contrast to some areas and leaving others or adding more to some areas than other areas etc etc). It was a job of layer masks. Probably the background still needed noise reduction despite all of the reduction I've done already!

Dear Goldie;

OK, this is a mini-series here that I've done around the end of April when I noticed this little flower in the yard. Again, it is a short-lived one, so I had to work quickly. Like "Maggie" before, I've made many shots handheld with auto-ISO and 100mm macro lens. Here, I've merged many images by focus-stacking them. If I'm not mistaken, I think the flower is called "oxeye" and probably of the same family as daisies. Don't take my word for it, I'm no expert!
The shots combined here were shot with ISO 6400 (and I'm surprised because it was morning time and not dark, but this is auto-ISO for you). I tried my best here to clean the noise and still keeping the image "acceptable" so in the end not much noise was cleaned really (it wouldn't be clear unless at 100% zoom or so). So, the grains on the petals are actually half real, and half noise, if I can say so. I also did a controlled sharpening (sharpening some areas and leaving others).
