#onthisday2022 Apparently there is a sizable chunk of #pro-choice #republicans who believe that there are actually forced abortions happening in the US. I mean if by keeping everyone in poverty so the idea of raising a child is fiscally irresponsible then yes? But no they literally believe like a weaker version of #PizzaGate that there are forced #abortions going on all the time. So they go along with the #pro-lifers thanks to a crazy conspiracy theory. Kinda like the entire pro-life premise and what they THINK #Roe actually says, like they are handing out late term (later than 24 weeks) like candy which are only ever done for medical reasons, and always a tragedy.
#onthisday2022 Just found out that the reason #housing is so expensive today is because the #suburbs were created purposely to be expensive to keep black people out. Because of that we can't build anything but single family homes there with a large yard. Because of that, everything such as transit is more expensive. These policies creating a housing #shortage, so speculators began treating them as an investment instead of a commodity. Now people spend 1/3rd to 1/2 of all their income on rent, those who can't afford this basic necessity go #homeless . It didn't have to be this way but everything literally goes back to #racism . America, making everything we do more expensive to literally just be crueler to others in a self-righteous way.
#onthisday2022 At 46 now and still have no plans to buy a house. At this point renting is just as viable as buying where I am.

When you remember just how stressful the #coldwar was and how it was probably going to be #nuclear annihilation at every turn, you can kind of understand why so many people checked out politically in the 90's. Complete burnout. Kind of why people stopped actively defending labor laws post WWII, also burnout.
