In the era before cellphones, Big Boss had an important message for a senior developer.

Unfortunately, the developer had left their modem set to auto-answer, blocking their answering machine from even picking up.

Boss was stymied.

Given the developer’s modem was picking up, the developer’s VT100 terminal was very likely also powered up.

Using a second modem and terminal, called the developer’s number again, and left the message as text on their VT100 screen.

They got the message.
