014: OER19 Therapy

This thread https://twitter.com/louisedrumm/status/1643995217518026755?s=46&t=MZzgMmRUpSKxo1nqyZ6BtA captures for me some of the many ways to be present across time and space at Conferences (and other gatherings). Unknown to me at the time @giuliaforsythe was watching and sketching a session at #OER19 where Louise Drumm enabled Lou Mycroft’s YouTube presence at #OER19 by holding up her laptop to face the audience in https://oer19.oerconf.org/sessions/but-what-exactly-is-femedtech-defining-an-open-distributed-network-o-115/ These beautiful connections are across time, space and platforms #OER23

Being reminded by Kate Molloy (Galway) that "the VLE is where things go to die" from her #OER19 presentation. That thinking and playing with #openedtech (hypothes.is and H5P) has morphed into something bigger #OER23

Taking a crack at #smallstories, to honour the wonderful #OER19 session and my friends @lauraritchie @katebowles @[email protected]

I attended the 2019 journal launch of Knowledge Makers, an Indigenous student research network at TRU. KM embodies the power of human scale, intimacy, care. Each student gave a speech, and presented their first copy to a family member or supporter. Many spoke of a new sense of self-worth and connection because of their journey.

Two #smallstories from my experience at #OER19 conference in Galway, Ireland. Both are about shared time & the value of lived experiences noticed by others.

Our presentation ( @katebowles and I were in person) at #OER19 in Ireland ended up being a giant shout out for mastodon. The topic was #smallstories. Full details here, and the video is linked - our session starts at 53mins.

shout outs to @GeoffreyGevalt and our main author @[email protected] and @Downes @dogtrax and @Ayior for being involved in our slides. :) @Gargron https://calendar.google.com/calendar/event?eid=XzZjcDY0YzM1NjByM2NiYjQ2bGkzOGI5a2M0cWphYjlvY2NyNmFiOWtjcGdtNGNyNTY5ajNnZGhnNzAgNzRwbjh0bXB0NmplOTdxN2htMm0zYTEzdW82bzJoYTRAaQ&ctz=Europe/London

A "pedagogy of small": Exploring small open online communities [O-153]

Presentation today with @katebowles (IRL!) at #OER19 on the #smallstories and the idea of the magic of small in pedagogy. A few of us wrote a book chapter on it, and way back when Mastodon was new we sort of clung together via this space. #OER19

Some stayed. Some keep returning.

I'll share the presentation once we've done it. Draft is here https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1C3uORuVcViGdQp-lHNVlYSgE2MXd_hoVeeH6YLRB7kg/edit?usp=sharing

and now a session on #FemEdTech at #OER19

an unfunded/volunteer network fuelled by passion and kindness, where one of their main aims is to amplify voices. ❤️

Started reviewing the #OpenETC slides from #OER19 and I've found a treasure trove of tools, ideas, & progressive processes. More to explore. There goes my day. :)

Heading to Ireland today for #oer19 and a talk at Limerick Uni on the way. My experience of Ireland is a 1 day visit to Cork some years ago and I am very much looking forward to seeing a bit of it this time. Not buckets of extra time, but a few hours on either end, and I'm good at fitting things in!

Bringing my student and he co-wrote part of the lecture and the conference talk. :) yay!
