My #ObliqueStrategy for the day: slow the tempo down. I was noodling on some new #ElectronicMusic ideas that might be #BonkWave and it didn’t feel right at my customary 122BPM. Dropping it to 99BPM revealed a nice sense of groove to lean into.

Some would call this more of a career path than an #obliqueStrategy 😀

(Thanks to @rodti for original toot)

Oh, and as far as "go to an extreme, return to a comfortable space" #ObliqueStrategy that kicked it off, the deep orchestration and layering came in handy when it came to arrange the song and I could mix and match layers to keep things ever shifting throughout... dang, good advice Eno/Schmidt!

As for the #ObliqueStrategy, I pulled cards for most (maybe all?) of the songs at one point or another. This one I began with. I decided to heavily orchestrate this with lots of layers, and also to use mostly internal #MPC instruments plugins as the "extremes" I would take this song to.

It's almost midnight on a Saturday, so what better time to pick up the #PsychedelicGhostStories #ProductionDiary thread? None. None better time. (My music is late night weird mood music anyway, y'know?) We're now onto track 5, "The Inscrutable Oracle of the Night Cafe." The two key elements of this song's origin are the #AndalusianCadence, and the #ObliqueStrategy that says, "Go to an extreme, move back to a comfortable place"

#obliquestrategy or #procrastination? We might never know.

In 2023, I'm going to experiment with this Oblique Strategy:
"Slow preparation, fast execution"
as a contrast to my usual way of working, namely "rapid prototype, slow polish".
I'm also going to blog more:
