Dopo dieci giorni di ricovero nell'ospedale di Zanjan, la premio nobel iraniana Narges Mohammadi ha ottenuto la sospensione della pena ed è stata trasferita in ambulanza al Pars Hospital di Teheran dove verrà cucurata dal proprio team medico. A dare l'annuncio, la Narges Foundation e i familiari dell'attivistà che hanno ringraziato la comunità internazionale per la solidarietà dimostrata sottolineando però l'insufficienza della "sola sospensione della pena su cauzione".
"Narges Mohammadi ha bisogno di cure permanenti e specialistiche. Dobbiamo assicurarci che non torni mai piu' in prigione per scontare i 18 anni che restano della sua condanna", si legge nella dichiarazione pubblicata su X dal suo avvocato Mostafa Nili.
Il legale ha spiegato che la decisione è stata adottata in seguito a una valutazione dell'Organizzazione di medicina legale iraniana, secondo la quale Mohammadi necessita di cure specialistiche al di fuori del carcere e sotto la supervisione del proprio team medico a causa di diverse patologie.
Iran releases Nobel laureate Mohammadi on bail for medical care
After ten days of hospitalization in the Zanjan hospital, Iranian Nobel Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi has obtained the suspension of her sentence and has been transferred by ambulance to the Pars Hospital in Tehran, where she will be cared for by her medical team. The Narges Foundation and the activist’s family announced the news, thanking the international community for the solidarity shown, while emphasizing the insufficiency of a “sole suspension of sentence on bail.”
“Narges Mohammadi needs permanent and specialized care. We must ensure that she never returns to prison to serve the remaining 18 years of her sentence,” reads a statement published on X by her lawyer Mostafa Nili.
The lawyer explained that the decision was made following an evaluation by the Iranian Medical Legal Organization, according to which Mohammadi needs specialized care outside of prison and under the supervision of her medical team due to various illnesses.
