@humanetechThe potential of the
#Fediverse is much larger than that, where all kinds of social activity can come together, with many different app-types integrating.Yes, and that is exactly what I think should be the main point when pitching the fediverse. If discribing my
#Friendica experience, I'd say
it's like when using
#Facebook, but federation means what everyone sees and does is not controlled by a single company in order to maximize its profitSounds a bit like the infraverse speech that you were categorizing as bad. Maybe except for the whole selfhost bit that is definitely not what one will first look into, but that is probably the only acceptable answer to the common "you have to trust someone anyway"
but in this Facebook-like feed I can have updates from
#Peertube channels, from
#Lemmy communities, and more. Most importantly, I can interact with those contents directly from here.Tbh, this is what got me hooked on the fediverse. As a someone who does not use Twitter, my first
#Mastodon experience was very brief (even though it was on the very nice
#Framapiaf instance), but I started using it more when I got interested in Peertube interaction.
My (still ongoing) move to
#Nerdica is due to features of the Mastodon software (mostly comment size, also share-repost quote-share and downvotes), and that is also one of the main points I think : I can change software without changing my community of followers and followees.
Back to my original point
Just a simple reformulation of what I had in mind with my original question : is it fair to say that your
#Peopleverse pitch could equivalently describe
#Reddit? Is that a problem?
PS : sorry about repost, clicked wrong place. You can see how ongoing the move is 😀
