Meanwhile, the City Council has been actively suppressing affordable housing measures—and, at the same time, pushing bills to criminalize the presence of unhoused people and sex workers in large swaths of the city. Black residents make up just 8% of Seattle, yet 25% of homeless individuals in the city are African-American.
