I’m going to compete in a solo bagpipe competition on Saturday. I’ve practiced, I know the music, I’m familiar with the competition process, I know what not to do, I like everyone involved, but I am still nervous. As even the top solo pipers say, anyone can win a piping competition practicing alone in their living room. It’s what happens on the day that matters. All you can do is be the most prepared.

If you do (objectively) complex and difficult things while being observed by dispassionate, kind, but ninja-level experts, what do you do to be prepared?
