HyperX FlipCast Review: For the gamer-podcaster

Need tech advice:
What's the best (type of?) microphone that will work at about 30cm on a desk from my mouth - for streaming, zoom calls, etc ?
I don't want a "boom arm" and don't want to have a mic in front my face or in the way of the laptop keyboard.
Everyone says microphones need to be about 5 cm from your mouth ideally.
Should I opt for a "lapel" mic like the DJI Mic Mini ?
Why am I doing this? The laptop mics are rubbish, and the Bose Quietcomfort headphone mics keep cutting out.
I would really like to build two more U87 clones. There is a guy out there who has copied the original Neumann transformer perfectly, right down to the metallurgy of the core, and there is a woman who has perfectly cloned the original capsules. I found a guy in the UK who makes very high quality bodies that I used in my first build.
My Build 1 mics are VERY high quality, but Build 2 will be exactly as good as what Neumann was making in 1976 or so.
Poor SM57, I don't think its brain is supposed to be visible. Decapitated by a single drumstick hit.
Given the abuse these things take, I can't get over how it broke. I'd let you hear the sound, but I was sadly only practicing when it happened.

The old, saggy-ass elastic bands in the shock mount for my AKG C414 are beyond useless at this point. I recently tried to buy new ones at the local Long & McQuade but they had to do a βspecial order.β They subsequently phoned me to say the elastics are $19.99 each. So $45.18 all in.
For 2 elastic bands.
So thatβs a no.
I see that one of those sketchy Ali Express sites has them for like 6 bucks.
I dunno.
