Jack Johnson: SURFILMUSIC (2026)

Melkweg, Friday, June 19 at 09:15 PM GMT+2

SURFILMUSIC is a new documentary chronicling Jack Johnson’s evolution from surfer to filmmaker to world-renowned musician. The film traces how Johnson’s early years making surf films with close friends became a foundation for a much broader creative life, capturing moments in and out of the water that later surfaced in his songwriting. Blending rare footage from those formative surf films and Johnson's personal and family archives with present-day reflections, the film weaves together how lived experience, friendship, and exploration shaped the sound and stories behind the music.

Directed by Emmett Malloy, featuring Jack Johnson, Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Gerry Lopez, Chris Malloy, G. Love, Ben Harper, John John Florence, Emmett Malloy, Kim Johnson, and more, with a beautiful score by Jack Johnson and Hermanos Gutiérrez.

Blood Incantation: All Gates Open - In Search of Absolute Elsewhere (2026)

Melkweg, Friday, June 5 at 09:15 PM GMT+2

With the film 'All Gates Open' the American progressive death metal band Blood Incantation takes you behind the scenes of the band’s time in Berlin while recording their latest album 'Absolute Elsewhere'. Simultaniously with the new release of the official soundtrack, the film is now presented for the first time as a cinema screening.

Filmed at the legendary Hansa Studios, the documentary captures the band in their natural environment — writing, rehearsing, recording, and exploring the city. It’s an intimate and unfiltered look at a unique creative process, shaped by Berlin’s atmosphere and culture. This is not a typical music documentary, but a deep dive into how an album comes to life — raw, immersive and honest.

#EricClapton : A life in 12 bars

The best #musicdocumentary I have ever watched. Utterly compelling with a flow very delicately engineered, along with a vast array of still and moving imagery.

And amazing music of course.
