@ColesStreetPothole met my husband on IRC in 1995. #mindvox

At best my tribe is a dysfunction family...at best. Over the decades we have drifted , gently or with sharp shoves, some still in clusters others sending postcards from Elba.
But then death comes in to give a smile.
"Hello, did you forget I was here?"

#mindvox

@feld @jcrabapple @SlicerDicer was he from #mindvox by chance?
@rk i was team #mindvox fwiw

@bixfrankonis as you know, @mathew and i met on IRC in 1995 on #mindvox, the hangout channel for the infamous BBS. i was not in NYC to dial in, so i used telnet on a shell account of my local ISP.

2008? we'd been married nine years by then. poseur.

@greg @RickiTarr oh god, the #mindvox meets. (aka "meats") ... mindvox was a BBS located in NYC that had an IRC channel as well; it got a bit of publicity and after a while people from all over started to trickle in. the NY crew would meet up now and then, and at some point people started showing up from out of state.

... i don't remember exactly when, but some time in the mid-90s maybe 20 of us descended on kansas city (someone lived there and had a big house where we all slept on the floor) for a huge get together and it was full of madness, chaos, hilarity, fornication, and an endless source of inside jokes that became legendary. we called it "Cornmeet [tm]" because it was in the midwest. good times.
