Oldtimers in #SantaRosa lament the loss of the old library, and it *was* fantastic (you get a great look at it in SHADOW OF A DOUBT) but I also love the 1967 replacement. It's easy to miss as it's fairly low-slung and dominated by trees, but there are some very cool #midmod details. #architecture

The pre-fab Aluminaire House was moved to downtown Palm Springs in 2024. "Designed by then-budding architects Albert Frey and Lawrence Kocher (eventual pioneers of desert modernism) — made its debut at the 1931 Allied Arts and Building Products Exhibition at Grand Central Palace in New York City and, ironically, embodies eternally utopian principles for living."

Because it does not meet US codes for disability access, the interior is off limits to the public.
