As I have posted before we live in an Eichler (Mid Century Modern from the 50's). Eichlers were cheap tract homes and in an era of redlining Joseph Eichler would sell homes to anybody and did not discriminate.

They are fun and quirky and you either love them or hate them.

In 1956 (Ours is 1958) he built "the home of the future" the X-100. The name came fromt he X-Series of NASA planes which were cutting edge. The X-100 used Steel frame construction instead of wood, No interior load-bearing walls thus a totally open layout. Floor to ceiling windows (mine has these) , atriums INSIDE THE House. This APEX home which is listed int he National Register is now up for sale for a comically low 4.5 million USD. (I know but its the SF Bay Area) It should sell in the 6+ range IMHO and the priced it low to get a bid war going #Eichler #midcenturymodern #design
