R.I.P. .LaMonte McLemore, one of the 5 original voices of The 5th Dimension, the St. Louis born military vet whose early talents in #MLB baseball were waylaid by an injury, but became a key co-founder of the prolific pop vocal group.
Aside from the #platinum success working with 60's & 70's era key musical compatriots including Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr, Hal Blaine, Johnny Rivers, Laura Nyro, Jimmy Webb, Bones Howe etc, he was also a cultural force and creative eye who was the very first black #photographer hired by Harper's Bazaar and captured Jet & Ebony magazine model portraits for decades, as well as contributing to Playboy and People mags.
A truly profound example of #AfricanAmerican excellence, McLemore's life is documented in his 2014 autobiography "From Hobo Flats to The 5th Dimension - A Life Fulfilled in Baseball, Photography, and Music" before suffering a stroke and recent death this week at age 90 in #PalmSprings.
