A first run of the new system for the "Hacia un nuevo universo" (Towards a new universe) process-piece that Milo Tamez and I are working on.

Though the technical aspects have evolved we still face a challenge when going beyond the initial materials. We've identified in our intention towards the music, a necessity to control the direction of the music, and to be constantly actively changing things. This tends to break the music and make it too disordered and out of balance.

Seems like a very post-modern human thing to do. And as such, technique (technology) doesn't seem to be the cause of the problem; rather it's the human understanding and relation with the world and technological agency.

Still even if we can hypothesize of the cause of the problem, it's not the same as integrating that into our being-practice. In modern-speak have the information but not the knowledge.

But well one step at a time (though perhaps we'd rather lie still and take a breath, rather than move).

This 15 minute vision, though, seems mostly fine.

#NowPlaying ‘the sky chases the bird’, an austere yet intensely lovely, room- and mind-filling album by @microtones, picked up in #BandcampFriday yesterday.

I’ve bought—and have enjoyed—a lot of David’s work over the years but have missed the last few releases so this was a good opportunity to remedy that.

These two long pieces are “improvisations in a microtonal just intonation tuning”. Music of sublime slowness for these lifetimes that accelerate ever onwards.
