Two things I noticed:

The microshift-olm package provices the Operator Lifecycle Manager, but apparently only a very limited subset. I could not get it working at all.

There are packages for ArgoCD, called microshift-gitops. Those install a part of ArgoCD. You get the repo-server, redis and the application-controller. But no WebUI. I have not found out yet, if I can still use the argocd CLI to connect to the cluster and e.g. sync an application, as it normally (AFAIK) relies on the web component being exposed via ingress, loadbalancer or port-forward. I'll report back if I get it working. Other than the missing WebUI, it does what ArgoCD is supposed to do: sync stuff into the cluster. Nice.

How to use microshift-olm? · openshift microshift · Discussion #6461

Dear maintainers, I set up a new microshift machine using the latest relase 4.21 for RHEL9. I also installed the microshift-olm package, but could not get anything working. I was hoping I would get...

Dear Openshift and Kubernetes users,

after my single-node OpenShift cluster broke for the third time (pods not coming up, no idea what went wrong this time), I reinstalled the machine and tried MicroShift.

I overlooked the tiny detail in the documentation that there are subscription repos for RHEL10, but only packages for RHEL9. So I had to reinstall my machine after trying RHEL10 first.

In general microshift seems to be an easy way to get a OpenShift-like "cluster" running on a single machine. I'll report back once I did some more thorough testing.

Saturday night special, moving #immich from raspberry pi 4 #microshift to intel nuc SNO #OpenShift. Pulling redis and postgresql as dependancy as well. Let's see if it's faster. Next one would be #NextCloud.

Damned, right after I got my first #rhel 10 #microshift image mode iso done, the rugged box won't accept any of my usb sticks as boot device. Just stays in boot screen. It's a nice old dell3200 box. Can one start #bootc install with kexec?
RT @rhdevelopers: See how #MINC allows you to run #MicroShift in a container, offering a flexible alternative to #OpenShift Local.

I know it's pretty common in the industry to dog on microSHIFT, but honestly, they were in the right place at the right time in the pandemic, and more importantly they seem like they aren't embarrassed to work with the budget-conscious or the weirdos. Shimano and SRAM seem doggedly determined to keep churning towards the future and making it harder and harder to get simple, functional components that just work, and meanwhile microSHIFT is like...some of you weirdos still like friction shifters? Great. We can make those. Oh, someone wants to resurrect a rapid rise style derailleur? Sure, we'll help make that happen.

Cheap parts is cheap parts, and every brand started there (SRAM mostly started on department store bikes, if my boss is to be believed), and microSHIFT seems very willing to grow in unique directions and stay out of the fistfight the two giants have been locked in for decades now.

Oh, AND their packaging is almost entirely plain-old brown cardboard and kraft paper, so they are generating *much* less plastic waste than the big boys, which always makes me happy!

Upgraded the drivetrain of my Santa Cruz Jackal hardtail today: from an ancient 9-speed Sram set-up to #Microshift's Sword and Advent combo. 10 gears, easy to adjust and shifting great thus far. Interesting mix of gear range (11 to 38) and a mid-cage derailleur.
Special thanks to the crew at edelhelfer.ch for some expert advice - and for straightening that bent derailleur hanger.
