Scientists are using used fossilized feces and vomit from Poland to reconstruct how dinosaurs came to dominate the Earth. The new study reconstructs who was eating whom 200 million years ago and suggests that dinosaurs ascended to prominence in a series of steps over 30 million years. The first dinosaurs ate whatever they could — including insects, fish and plants, and adapted quickly when climate conditions changed. The study was published Wednesday in the journal Nature and the findings were limited to Polish fossils.

Heavy rains in Brazil uncovered a 233 million-year-old dinosaur fossil in Rio Grande do Sul, possibly the world's oldest. The nearly complete Herrerasauridae skeleton offers new insights into early dinosaur evolution. Discovered by paleontologist Rodrigo Temp Müller, this significant find highlights the impact of severe weather on paleontological sites and the urgent need for preservation. Researchers are now studying the fossil, which could reveal more about the early adaptations of carnivorous dinosaurs.
