GNSS | LoRa modules arrived… systems are GO 📡

GNSS and LoRa modules are now installed on the Cardputer ADV and Meshtastic is up and running.

In simple terms, this setup creates a small, independent communication node. Messages are exchanged using low-power long-range radio instead of mobile networks, Wi-Fi, or the internet. Communication is text-based only, no voice, which keeps the system simple, robust, and extremely energy-efficient.

Devices form a decentralized mesh network where each node can relay messages for others. LoRa enables communication over several kilometers depending on environment, antenna, and placement. With sufficient node density, messages can hop across the mesh and bridge very large distances without any central infrastructure.

GNSS adds positioning and timing information, enabling location sharing and improved network coordination.

The node is live as Janjira NB (JNB).
Portable, low-power, and designed for reliable messaging when traditional networks fail… or are intentionally left behind.

Eventually found a good final position for my node after a lot of trial and error. I found out that I have to be a little bit outside of my balcony. Either because of the metal fences or because it sticks out more from under the roof. All in all, next node reachable with 3.5 dB SNR. Love it 📻

On Friday we flew back to Prague.

I was pretty scared to go thru security as they are more strict.
🤞 Luckily everything went smoothly.

I got a lot of activity in the air. I was on LongFast.
I recieved like 200 nodes and ChUtil was around 40%. Which is crazy.

I got a lot of fun messages greeting me from the ground and wishing for a great flight. Thanks to everyone!

Ich glaube, in Karlsruhe wurde eine kritische Nodedichte erreicht.

Gefühlt habe ich von jedem Punkt der Stadt aus Kontakt zu meinen Konten in der Wohnung.
