In the beginning R was mainly an statistical software. After deriving to be used as a programming language mostly for data management and data analysis, currently many developers focus on make R programming, environment, results... tidy and simple, many times with the cost of rigurous statistics.

I believe we should acknowledge the work of people yet focusing on statistics. Beyond some of the main developers of nuclear packages (like @mmaechler @zeileis, Torsten Hothorn, John Fox, Douglas Bates and many others), one Professor I found many times looking the package developers through libraries in CRAN among the authors behind the statistics of quite recent and relevant libraries is Kosuke Imai.

Thanks!
