RE
download an archive of all your posts on Mastodon?

There is another way to #mastodonarchive

You could screenshot the posts, like this example (4 images)

@ZhiZhu
Thanks 4 orig boost

Ich bin ehrlich beeindruckt von der Software #mastodonarchive (MA), die ich neulich durch einen Post im Blog von Natenom (https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natenom) kennen gelernt habe.

Siehe https://natenom.de/2023/08/tool-fuer-lokales-mastodon-archiv-html-export-suchfunktion-und-mehr/

#fedihelp I am looking for a way to extract all #hashtags which I ever used in my mastodon #toots. The purpose of this task is to identify the keywords catalogue which I have grown over time. I use successfully #mastodonarchive https://github.com/kensanata/mastodon-archive, but as far as I can see, it has no such thing like a hashtag cataloging mechanism

I’m struggling to find a decent #Lemmy client.

There is not a single Lemmy client in official #Debian repos.

#Neonmodem looked okay superficially, but it’s broken out of the gates. Does not even execute. A couple other projects are already abandoned by the maintainers.

My dream client would be non-graphical (TUI or CLI preferred), function offline, and maintain local archives (like #mastodonArchive).

@rigo Let's start simple. I wish #mamot didn't delete all our threads with non-mamot users after 6 months! https://mamot.fr/@nemobis/110703144308933637

#MastodonArchive can help a bit for one's own relations (but only if the instance doesn't delete them too soon).

Attached: 1 image @LaQuadrature Is #Mamot now pruning old posts from remote instances? Be careful with the "retention policy" setting: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/discussions/19260#discussion-4435009 I can't find my bookmarks from before November and all my discussions have been severed, for example compare https://mastodon.online/@kik1/109276158451558711 and https://mamot.fr/@nemobis/109276251530025484 (archived version: https://web.archive.org/web/20230712204052/https://mastodon.online/@kik1/109276025652406557 ). I noticed when the necroboosting classic https://mamot.fr/@[email protected]/103691928465354374 came back and had no bookmark. #MamotFr #MamotAdmin #MastoAdmin

@aktivismoEstasMiaLuo #MastodonContentMover is really quite different to #MastodonArchive. One moves the posts between instances, the other one archives them — either to a hard drive on a PC or to an html file that can be put onto a web site. Both are useful in their own way. I think what you've stumbled on here is the same misunderstanding you had in your previous post about what the tool does. Maybe it would be better to understand what something does before complaining about it in future.
I exported my Mastodon account for safe keeping and realised I have no idea how to open or convert JSON files into something minimally readable. I would love to be able to read the export, at the very least, as a list of posts. I did a quick search and found some options that required running command lines in Terminal, but I haven't used this kind of stuff in years and I am afraid I will break something. (I feel like a freakin' granma 😂) Does anyone know of a simple tool I can use for this effect? Thank you! #Mastodon #MastodonArchive
In a lot of ways #mastodonContentMover (MCM) is similar to Kensenata’s #mastodonArchive (m-a). Notable difference: m-a can save mentions (very useful to have copies of posts by others that mention you). OTOH, m-a has some bugs that MCM may not. It’s a shame MCM apparently does not have a proxy parameter for Tor users because torsocks does not work on java’s JRE.

@andrewjbtw Even more annoying for me is that the self-search for tagged posts, e.g. https://mamot.fr/@nemobis/tagged/copyright unconditionally excludes public replies, in addition to any unlisted posts. I need to grep my account export to find my own posts, or use something like #MastodonArchive. https://alexschroeder.ch/cgit/mastodon-archive/about/
