considerateI'm on to the second book of the Mars Trilogy, Green Mars, by Kim Stanley Robinson. I'm not a "colonize Mars" guy in the slightest. We need to focus here and now on Earth. The story here though is more than about Mars. It is about the scourges of corporate interest, dismantling the common good. The scientific backdrop to this storyline makes it all the more immersive, including compelling character development. Roseanna Cunningham 🏴🖖So, I read Kim Stanley Robinson’s Mars Trilogy when the books were first published (early 1990s). They were fascinating and I enjoyed them immensely so here I am re-reading but in the middle of the first book Red Mars, I’m already struggling!! Irritating characters, very very long chunks of science explainers - & the meandering nature of the whole thing.
What the hell? Does anyone else experience this….disappointment on re-reads?
