I can see the merit of your argument.

People on the Italian mainland always seem to have been prone to deception and back-stabbing, it seems...Prime literary examples, #ColleenMcCullough's #Cesar saga and #ThePrince by #Macchiavelli (not to mention the #Borghias, for that matter.)

I'd still argue that THEM not knowing what was about to happen, did not make it "sudden." It needn't have been. They were apparently in ignorance of many martial principles,...

@SheDrivesMobility ja, da bist Du nicht allein. Ich halte nicht viel von Verschwörungserzählungen, aber in diesem Fall passt es einfach alles zu gut. Die Frage ist, ob und mit welchen Mitteln man jemand dazu bekommt, eine solche Tat zu begehen. Aber: Eigentlich alles von #macchiavelli schon beschrieben. Das muss klein Vladi schon früh gelesen haben

On the Psychology of GPT-4: Moderately anxious, slightly masculine, honest, and humble

We subject GPT-4 to a number of rigorous psychometric tests and analyze the results. We find that, compared to the average human, GPT-4 tends to show more honesty and humility, and less machiavellianism and narcissism. It sometimes exhibits ambivalent sexism, leans slightly toward masculinity, is moderately anxious but mostly not depressive (but not always). It shows human-average numerical literacy and has cognitive reflection abilities that are above human average for verbal tasks.

@vosje62 @marcovanduijn Ja, #macchiavelli ligt ook op mijn nachtkastje en ik denk bij Esther en het bestuur ook wel. Maar je moet er zin in hebben. Hoe briljant ik het ook vind; ik krijg er geen energie van. Het gaat over mensen, niet over dieren.

What if we reinterpreted #thePrince by #Macchiavelli as descriptive rather than normative, and treated it (to borrow a phrase from @cydharrell in her frequent refrain about #cyberpunk) as a warning, not a manual.

#Trump & his ideas are dangerous, but many politicians don't respect him or take his notions seriously. On the other hand, #DeSantis is cleverer & therefore scarier. He's like a man who's sold his soul/conscience. Trump wants power but also to be loved, whereas De Santis wants power but would prefer to be feared - a real Macchiavellian character.
