A lot of people pointed out last week that the original Macintosh's inflation-adjusted price is over $7300. But I haven't seen anyone point out that the current base-model iMac is only $443 in 1984 dollars, and it's a heck of a lot more useful out of the box than the original Mac was. #apple #mac40th

As part of the 40th anniversary of the Mac, here is my first Mac. Although I had an Apple IIe as my first computer it wasn't until 2009 that I returned to the fold with this 17" MacBook Pro. It was only retired in 2020 so had a good innings. Machine still boots but trackpad seems to fail to register clicks.

Alright, I'm jumping in. My first Mac was an LC 475. Humble beginnings, but somehow I was able to render 3D images using Ray Dream Designer!

TIL that the guy who played Big Brother in the 1984 #Macintosh ad:

1. Is still alive (he turns 99 this year), and
2. Was one of the original voices of the #Daleks (in the first Doctor era and also the two #PeterCushing feature films).
