Tigger-Tiger (TT) on April 15, 2025, a week after his first Solensia injection. We had taken him to the ER on April 2 for limping that was getting worse and they discovered he has a dislocated kneecap, arthritis and luxating patella grade 4. He is doing really well on Solensia and just had a surgery consult on April 28, we all (TT, surgeon, G and I) decided against surgery for now. Solensia, a monthly injection, was approved by the FDA January 2022; so far kitties do really well on it so we are hoping it continues to help TT do what he loves. The surgeon also said from the xrays, she could tell that his knee had been dislocated for a while so the temporary limping might have been due to an arthritic flare up or he might have fallen funny. TT always walked a little funny and got in weird positions but we had always assumed he was double jointed! now we know what it was! Some history: after the ER visit and before he got his first injection, he was on gabapentin 3x a day for pain as prescribed by the ER vet but it made him very woobly, the Solensia injection that his regular visiting vet gave him on April 8 started working almost immediately and he was completely off #gabapentin by April 17. TT now even runs and is walking like he used to. Unfortunately Librera, a similar drug for dogs, recently was found to have severe side effects hence the caution re if Solensia will prove long term to be safe and effective. fingers crossed and I hope they come up with a safe drug for doggies #cats #catsofmastodon #catsoffediverse #arthritis #luxatingpatella #dislocatedkneecap ps I tried to upload a video of TT walking but my ipad video format is not pixelfed compatible; would love to hear from other cat peeps re their experience with #Solensia #felinearthritis #catsofpixelfed #pets
