Hey folks

This is a query targeted at any folks who experience any kind of neuropathic pain for any reason(s), to any degree, and with any frequency, and who've found meds and/or treatment options to reduce, manage, or otherwise cope with the pain.

Please note that we're not asking for ourselves, but for friends who have various forms of this and seem to be having no luck getting decent or timely care through official medical routes 🥺😔

Our own experience of pain has been very different, so we cannot extrapolate anything that has worked for our own issues to neuropathic pain. Relatively-speaking, we've been very fortunate.

We are aware of what the medical organisations say, but we'd much rather hear from folks with personal experiences of any kind, particularly atypical ones that work where others have failed.

As we understand it, commonly-prescribed meds like duloxetine (or any similar SNRI) and gabapentin are often ineffective in many folks, though please correct us if we're wrong there.

We don't have any insight on things like:

Thank you in advance for any answers 🫶

Neuropathic pain - Wikipedia

Yikes. My #medicare part D premium is going from $11 to $73 a month.

The most egregious thing I’ve received in the mail from them recently: the medication deductible goes from $0 to $650 for only the following meds:

#Adderall,
#Gabapentin (I take it for hot flashes but people who can’t get real pain meds take it for pain); and
Vaginal estrogen cream. (#estradiol )

I guess I should shut up and be grateful it’s not happening with my migraine medication or oxycodone. Good thing I started stockpiling the hell out of that estrogen cream when the war on trans people started winning, just in case someone I know needed it. But WTF?!

My #tics related to severe #tourettes have changed since I stopped using #GabAPentin as a way to manage them.

Before they were subtle, but almost never stopped as they were impossible to fully satisfy. They were smaller movements or twitches that were very frequently.

I switched to using a higher dose of #Guanfacine which is an #adhd and tic specific medication, and now they come in waves and are more forceful, and harder to contain.

But I can actually have some peace.

There will always be #drugs as the federal government in the #usa is so slow to react to new problems.

When they update the #laws of a substance, another one creeps in until it is such a problem it has to be solved.

Take #kratom and #GabAPentin.

Drug addicts have known you could abuse those for ages yet it's only now making headlines. Another will show up after those are scheduled.

It's evidence you can't solve it with brute force. It's a wider problem with #society.

Poor Julius had some gabapentin before a tooth extraction, and now he can't remember how sitting works.

Lyrica

Just had a realization that this massive current big-fatigue problem started right around when I started on Lyrica, which hasn’t helped with my pain at all, and I do recall mentioning the fatigue to my doctor and her suggesting some other things to try, but uh, maybe this is just as useless for me as gabapentin was

Meds and such

I had a long-overdue physical with my doctor last week, and after explaining my various struggles with fibromyalgia, long COVID, and suspected ME/CFS she put me on two new medications, Singulair, for the persistent shortness of breath, and Lyrica (pregabalin), for the chronic pain. I’ve only been on them for a few days but here’s some observations so far:
