A little return visit to part of the Tamsui Kavalan Trails. This section crosses from Fuyang Eco Park in Taipei, to Shenkeng Old Street (of sticky tofu fame) in New Taipei. The route has changed somewhat since I last walked it, and there is now a lot more signage. However, in one or two spots, the signage isn’t too clear and I ended up taking a couple of unintentional detours.

An enjoyable long read about solitary walking and thinking, with side nods to children's literature, Kate Bush, Can, Dickens and Hardy. Much here that I can relate to as an often solo walker.

(It's also effectively a promo piece for the writer's new book, but don't let that put you off.)

‘Thirsty, wet, desolate. The dream’: One Day author David Nicholls on the peculiar pleasure of long, soggy solo walks

The bestselling author has always hated being on his own, so why does he spend a few days every year hiking alone in the wind and rain? Just don’t call it a midlife crisis …

S2 Ep6 Dark Skies

In this episode we hear from Dr Alec Mackinnon about some of the things you can look out for in the night sky while walking the Kintyre Way.  Kintyre skies are largely extremely low in light pollution so it's the perfect place from which to look up.

Walkers are Welcome Town - Kington

Friendly and relaxed with a network of trails, medieval walled alleyways and intriguing buildings, Kington is a great place to explore and hang out. Boots and backpacks are commonplace and lying in the Welsh Marches, it has more long distance paths converging on a town of its size than anywhere else in the UK.

Walkers are most definitely welcome in Kington.
