Memo to sighted people in the UK. Pelican crossings (mostly) have tactile cones on the bottom of the control panel that tell visually impaired people when it is safe to cross.

Yesterday;s highlight was a gentleman trying to insist that I cross a very busy road on his say-so when it was obviously not time . I indicated I preferred to wait until the signal. "But ye cannae see!" he exclaimed in alarm. I tried to explain .
