@sundew @aphyr Blame that on #C & programming language makers continuing to use, expose the underlying foundation; see "#localtime(3)" & friends https://man.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=localtime&apropos=0&sektion=3&manpath=FreeBSD+14.2-STABLE&arch=default&format=html -- search for "External declaration" (could not quote fields of "tm" structure with comments due to the character limit of the server).

In this respect, #Python "time.struct_time", 9-element tuple, https://docs.python.org/3/library/time.html#time.struct_time has better structure (year is not based around 0 for you to add 1900 to it as it does in fucking #Perl; etc)

Make #Unixtime mandatory and derivate #localtime from it.

@7331 @asahi95 #DST / #DaylightSavingsTime is just torture and if it was my decision we'd instead have #Unixtime and #LocalTime only.

@mcc @gsuberland That reminds me of @fuchsiii which knows a thing from the #ArchWiki on how to force Redmondian #Govware to accept #Unixtime as System Clock yet display #LocalTime on the Desktop...

Maybe she got that link handy...

In the early hours of Sunday morning New Zealsnd came off 'Daylight Saving Time' and reverted to 'Standard Time' which is itself about half an hour ahead of local solar time.

The image is a screenshot showing the position of the Sun at 12 noon NZST.

My hens don't pay any attention to Standard Time but go to roost almost right on sunset, year-round.

Difference Between Local Time and Standard Time (with Comparison Chart) - Key Differences

This article gives you some information on differences between local time and standard time. While standard time is nothing but the regular local time of the particular region. On the other hand, the local time is the time of a specific area, when the midday sun is just above the head.

This must be the stupidest API ever.

How to convert from #java #sql #Date to java.util.Instant with #time and #zone.

Just getting the date from #MSSqlServer omits the time. So we have to read that separately, convert sql date and time to #LocalDate and #LocalTime, and then create an intermediary #CalendarBuilder to collect each #ChronoUnit, and then convert the result to milliseconds since #epoch.

Ugh.
