The Free Software Foundation (FSF) announced its project to bring mobile phone freedom to users.

#Librephone is a new initiative by the FSF with the goal of bringing full freedom to the mobile computing environment.

After reading the FAQ, the way I understand #LibrePhone is not a new phone operating system, but rather an attempt to replace proprietary firmware blobs that as of today are unavoidable on each and every phone-like device no matter how 'free' its OS is marketed.

Existing and new operating systems alike could potentially benefit from LibrePhone as long as they run on eligible hardware.

what is the goal of the proj? reversing fw? isnt it better to invest time into other parts of linux mobile? is this exploratory/a call to action? why android?

there were threads piling on them, but imo thats not a great way to work with people
